Gap Pathway
Returning after illness
You were unwell, or you were recovering. You owe an employer a timeline and a readiness statement — not a diagnosis.
What employers are actually reacting to
You are not obliged to disclose a diagnosis, and in most jurisdictions employers cannot require one before an offer. What they need is confidence about two things: that you're ready to do the job now, and that the gap has an endpoint. Give them a clean timeline and a plain readiness statement, and the topic closes.
Hold on to this
Recovery is not a liability. Handling something serious and coming back on purpose is evidence of exactly the resilience the job description keeps asking for.
