Gap Pathway
Incarceration
You have a record. You also have a route: fair-chance employers, a disclosure plan, and evidence that outweighs a background check.
What employers are actually reacting to
Many employers run background checks, but a growing number are fair-chance and 'ban the box'. The decision usually turns on three things: whether the offence relates to the job, how long ago it was, and whether you disclose on your own terms before the check does it for you. Being discovered is far more damaging than disclosing.
Hold on to this
A record is a fact about your past, not a forecast of your work. Employers hire the evidence in front of them when you give them enough of it.
